Really excited to be adding a Malbec to the RED by Caroline Dunn portfolio this vintage. It’ll be sourced from my favourite Kurtz vineyard Shed Block – right next door to the Shiraz.
A bit of an underdog in Australia, Malbec is enjoying a resurgence of sorts. And rightly so. One of the most exciting things about the variety is its colour. Dark purple in the vineyard, the wine is vibrant and deep, with lots of stunning magenta hues. And it pops with flavours of wild cherry, pomegranate, blueberry and blackberry.
“The perfect match with bold, tasty dishes and barbecued meats, Malbec pops with flavours of wild cherry, pomegranate, blueberry and blackberry.”
You can’t beat a Malbec as the perfect match with barbecued and chargrilled meats, sizzling sausages, charcuterie and terrines. It loves bold, tasty, mouthwatering flavours, with plenty of umami, and it’s elegant, yet robust, on the palate. It’s also outstanding with mushrooms and beetroot. What’s not to love?
Really looking forward to having a play with this variety during vintage. There won’t be much this year, but it’s bound to be the start of a great relationship. 🙂
