RxCD Barossa Valley Mataro 2020
I’m excited to let you all know that the 2020 Red by Caroline Dunn Barossa Valley Mataro has just been released. I’m very happy with this wine.
2020 was a trying vintage for us in the Barossa as far as the weather was concerned, and as a result, there wasn’t a lot of fruit around. But boy, are the wines looking good.
The 2020 Mataro is bursting with lovely purple fruits – just like biting into a ripe, juicy, red plum. Throw in some spice and a touch of violet florals for complexity and that more or less sums this one up.
Bursting with lovely purple fruits, it’s just like biting into a ripe, juicy, red plum.
The perfect food wine, with long silky tannins that go oh, so well with rich, plump meats like duck and pork, flavours that sing alongside mushrooms and root vegetables, and a spiciness that stands up deliciously with Chinese, Mexican and Middle Eastern foods. Even a medium-spiced curry won’t overwhelm it. You can’t go wrong with this one.
